Ah, choices

So here, in all of its modesty, is the invitation that I made to invite people tour 25th wedding anniversary bash. It's Basic Grey (Origins) and a text stamp - Dawn Houser at Inkadikado. Honestly, I've never met one of her images or calligraphy stamps that I didn't like. Or have to own. I've had this stamp for ages and as you know I've been stressing for ages over these silly invitations as well; so I shouldn't be surprised that a stamp that I almost consider an old friend is the one that does the trick for me huh? Mr Dunnit liked it too. And then I ran out of paper (four A6 cards from a 12" sheet is the best I can do, madam). So Mr Dunnit suggests I stop worrying and use something else. Well he would, wouldn't he? He has absolutely no idea how long it took me to choose these three tiny pieces and how much I worried about them being cheerful and representative and maybe possibly even vaguely tasteful. So then I did choose again, I forced myself to stay at my desk until I'd done the number that I needed.
And this one emerged. Same sketch (I couldn't possibly have changed the sketch as well, I mean, it's getting on to be a 26th anniversary party as it is!) This one is made using new My Minds Eye papers - Oh La La to be precise. As on the other, the only touch of silver is the embossed text. So have I created a choice monster? Is it either/or? It is not. I stacked them alternately and forced myself to write and address them in the order they came off the pile. After all, our friends and family won't know that some of them were different, and of course, just like Mr Dunnit, they won't begin to understand the agonies I went through, just to choose. For goodness sake, it was harder than choosing my Mr Right!

Both beautiful Julia :) I can understand how you felt 'cos usually that's what we do - have all the same cards for invitations! But as you say nobody will know they got a different one, unless they happen to pay a visit to another family member.

I think they are both really lovely.
When my daughter got married she wanted 6 different designs for her invites, all with cartoon characters on and the designs were to match the tables they were sitting on at the reception. Of course cartoon characters wern't the norm or at all what I had in mind but I do have to say everyone loved them, gave me full praise for doing them and some even collected a full set as a keepsake. Just go with the flow Julia and I will keep a look out in the post for my invite :-)

After 25 years I am guessing you did a good job of choosing Mr Right :0) As you also have with those yummy papers ... love the invitations equally ... and that is a lot! I wonder which one I will get ... or where I came in the pile ... actually I am guessing I was n't on the list in the first place ... but if you fall out with anyone and strike 'em off before the big day ... I am available X

They are both equally gorgeous and the recipient will know that each was made with loving care for your very special celebration - congratulations to Mr and Mrs ~dunnit :)

Unlike us, we missed our 25th anniversary because we both thought it was the following year! We just decided towait for the 30th instead (dependent on any divorce proceedings.....)

Ha, ha, ha I loved that "it was harder then choosing Mr. Right!" I think nobody except people who do cards and scrapbooking can understand the never ending turmoil of choosing papers and anything for cards - I can spend hours looking at my stash trying to decide what to choose! I must say Mrs.Dunnit you have dunnit right! Beautiful cards and so perfect for the occassion! I love the words and as it is the silver anniversary it definitly needs a bit of silver on it! Even better if they are different and unique it almost says "everyone I invite is very special to me"

i think having more than one style is the sensible option - if you liked a pair of shoes - wouldn't you get it in more than one colour - ok, ok, i'll talk inks then. You'd need more than one ink... get the picture - there is absolutely nothing wrong with more than one... it shows that you are bold and brave and (as well as indicisive and fussy)LOL, it shows that the content is more important than the cover - and they should be honoured to receive a bloody invite in the first place. :O)

I preferred the pink one though!!! ROFL!

I think using 2 differents sets of papers with the same sketch looks great. People will feel they've got one designed individually for the, whilst still being part of a cohesive set. I should definitely claim this was a deliberate decision!

gorgeous invites Julia, really, really lovely. When I make xmas cards I have the same agonies, ony reinforced when i come to write them, who gets which design etc....why do we do it lol

Well I think these are lovely but I can totally emphasise - I am the same at Christmas when most peeps probably just open them and stick them on the side. Takes me hours to choose papers for any artwork (let's not even get into the number I won't cut up 'just in case I need that for something special', I have about 200 of those). I'm more decisive with paints and inks. You've made me realise that maybe I should do invites for our 20th anny which is coming up (may be too old to celebrate by 25 years). Yikes! Where is the year going?
